Sedona author and journalist Marv Lincoln will sign copies of his new book, "I Married a Psychic," at [location] on [day & date]. The event starts at * p.m. This is a book signing with a novel twist.
The author will be joined at the event by his wife, Liberty, who in real life is a practicing Sedona psychic. She will demonstrate her psychic prowess following readings from the book. Using a popular Tarot deck, Liberty will answer questions from audience members in her "Readings of the Moment."
The author describes his book as "a metaphysical romance, a sci-fi thriller and a satirical take on the New Age." It ranges in locations from Sedona to India to Glastonbury to Tibet to Beijing, and is filled with ideas that have never been explored in print, even in the wild world of science fiction.
The book's subtitle, "The Vortex Conspiracy," provides a clue as to where the storyline takes the reader. Sedona is world-famous for its (alleged) four energy vortexes, which supposedly have healing powers as well as the potential to transform and energize visitors. Many people believe that numerous energy vortexes exist on Planet Earth.
Liberty Lincoln, who served as muse, inspiration and editor for her husband's first novel in 30 years, claims that the book is a roman a clef — a French term for a story that depicts real people and events under the guise of fiction. Often scandalous behavior is revealed but disguised in this literary exercise.
Author Marv Lincoln admits that the lead characters are modeled on himself and his wife of many years, and that the plot basically reflects their meeting and subsequent love affair. "The similarities end when the heroine of the story enters a trans-dimensional portal and suddenly has access to ancient wisdom and great psychic powers," he says. "My wife and I, for example, have never teleported or moved objects with our minds. At least not yet."
Liberty Lincoln is a long-time student of esoteric sciences. She has traveled the world in her quest for knowledge and experience, and has studied with gurus, shamen, mystics and holy men. She is also a show business veteran, having worked as an actress and dancer in films and television for many years.
Liberty has been in several films with Elvis Presley, and has worked with such directors as Paul Mazursky and John Huston. Today she retains her membership in the Screen Actors Guild.
