Press Release - Sedona + New Age
New sci-fi novel, 'I Married a Psychic,'
honors Sedona's New Age credentials
A new sci-fi novel by a Sedona author pays literary tribute to the city considered by many to be the New Age capital of the known world.
"I Married a Psychic," written by author and photojournalist Marv Lincoln, takes place mainly in Sedona, Arizona, but also transports the reader to a commune in India, to Beijing, China, to Glastonbury, England, and finally to a sacred mountaintop in Tibet.
Sedona's mysterious red rock formations and energy vortexes attract millions of visitors in search of spiritual awakening, psychic revelations, healing miracles and personal transformation. It is the alleged existence of four energy vortexes in the Sedona area that has spread the reputation of the small high desert community far and wide.
Are the vortexes real, or a cynical marketing tool of the Chamber of Commerce? Depends on who you ask. Author Lincoln uses the vortexes as a key plot device in his novel, the first book of a proposed trilogy. The subtitle of "I Married a Psychic" is "The Vortex Conspiracy."
It seems an international secret society of scientists, billionaires and do-gooders has wired the vortexes of the planet — yes, they are everywhere — in order to achieve their nefarious goals. The psychic of the title gets drawn into their scheme, and must use her considerable psychic skills to save the planet from economic collapse.
"I Married a Psychic" is more than a sci-fi thriller; it is also a sensitive love story, a commentary on simmering social and political issues of the day, and a satire on Sedona's New Age community. As the action heats up and the plot takes a sinister turn, many psychic techniques come into play: telepathy, remote viewing, psychokinesis, teleportation, and traveling through trans-dimensional portals.
The book was released in November 2007 by Thunder Mountain Productions of Sedona. Book signings and readings in this area will be announced shortly. The book can be purchased online at the publisher's website, www.Vortex23.com, at Amazon.com and at independent bookstores.
